2-Ball Competition!

Next Thursday Feb. 10th, NMS is hosting the Annual District 18 2-Ball Competition!

Hiking Club

 

The Hiking Club had a great snowshoe hike on Saturday. Sixteen students and parents hiked two and a half  kilometers on snowshoes and then had a campfire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows. It was a lot of fun and every member of the club did very well.

 

Next hike is February 12th to Mactaquac snowshoeing. A special thanks to the parents who went along as supervisors. 

 

 

 

 

Art Club

Culinary Enrichment

Attention all grade 8 students that signed up for Culinary Enrichment - please check the bulletin board outside the cafeteria for the schedule - if you have any questions please contact Mrs. Birney or Mrs. Davis-Burgoyne.

 

 

Sea Cadets

A young lady by the name of Kelli Hughes who is with the 353 New Maryland Sea Cadets, located in New Maryland New Brunswick will be in the school on Wednesday at lunch time to recruit students interested in the Sea Cadets program.

 As you may or may not be aware, the cadet movement focuses on four key aims, which include developing the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promoting physical fitness and stimulating the interest of youth in the land, sea and air activities of the Canadian Forces.

The cadet movement is a valuable tool for the growth of youth in Canada. We meet Monday nights from 6:00-9:00 pm at the New Maryland Elementary School. Anyone age 12-17 is welcome to come, and there is no cost to join.

Some of the upcoming events we will be participating in include a winter field training exercise, a bowl-a-thon, band competition and more. If there is interest in joining Sea Cadets, we encourage them to come in Monday nights.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Basketball team. The boys took home the Gold Medal at the Annual Bliss Carman Varsity Boys Tournament by defeating the George Street Crusaders by a score of 57-56.

AtPac League Competition #3 Mathletes

Kudos to the Contest 3 Mathletes!

 

Our Grade 6 Mathletes are Jeongsoo Kim (Max) 6A and Mitchell Spragg 6D.  These boys had 3 correct answers!  The following grade 6 students scored 2 on the test:  Yae Eun Park (Christina) Park 6A, Emin Letic 6B, Ethan Gallant 6C, Yae Jin (Eileen) Park 6C, Alice Armstrong 6D, Phoebe Bicknell 6D, Kali Billings 6D, Elly Choi 6D and Young Min Lee 6F.  Well done!

 

Our Grade 7 Mathlete is Patrick Richardson 7H.  Patrick was the only 7th grader to score 2 on the junior high/middle school test!  Congratulations!  The following grade 7 students got one correct answer:  Kevin Doria 7C, Noah Horwood 7D, Taylor Oakley 7D, David Johnson 7E, Nathan MacDonald 7H, Sungu (Eric) Kim 7I.  Good Job!

Students who take Bus 42 after school are to adhere to the following procedures when loading:

 

                Students who get off at the first two (2) stops need to load last

 

                The other students need to get on the bus first in order to sit near the back

 

These changes will be in effect today after school.

Michael Sullivan

Friday Frenzy

Those students who sold 6 or more magazine subscriptions during the Magazine Campaign have earned the right to attend Friday Frenzy.  This event will take place on Friday, January 28, 2011, from 3 -7 p.m.  A movie will be shown in our theatre and supper will be provided following the show.  Participating students will then have access to two courts in the fieldhouse and to a small scale dance in the cafeteria.  This activity is for those students who earned it and for students who have been invited by these good salespeople ONLY.

Thanks for your participation and contribution to our school activities.

JV Girls Basketball

After a very exciting weekend of tournament play our  JV Girls team went to the gold medal game with Devon Park and with hard fought play won the silver with Devon Park taking home the gold. The bronze went to Devon Middle School with fourth going to George Street. Congratulations to all the girls !

 

 

 

 

JV Boys Basketball - Bronze Medal!

Congratulations to the JV Boys Basketball team on winning the bronze medal at this weekend's Bliss Carman Invitational. The boys went 2-2 this weekend and beat Bliss Carman in the Bronze Medal game on Sunday by a score of 29-26.

Players of the game this weekend included Jacob Beaumont, Shane Moss, Eric Kim, and Brett Speedy.

Atlantic Pacific Math Competition
