Beyond the Hurt

We are looking for some more grade 7 and 8 students for Beyond the Hurt!

Beyond the Hurt is a Red Cross Anti-bullying program that we will be running here at Na'sis Middle. We need 10 - 12 students who are willing to commit to two days for training, willing to make classroom presentations and be part of the group that will organize anti-bullying at Na'sis for the remainder of the school year. If you are interested, please sign up at the front office. We will get those interested together and chose our final 12.

Interested grade 8 students who did not receive a letter and a pink application form can find copies at the main office.  Parents/Guardians are to complete the pink application forms (NOT students) and bring with them to the October 12 or 13th meeting.

LTT Announcement

Model Building/House Design

 

As a group, we will research, design and construct two types of dwellings from poster board and other materials, one for above ground and one for below ground. Our end product will be showcased using avenues chosen by the group which should include more than one form of technology. Feeling creative, have an artistic craving, want to learn about design, then come join our group.

 

We will be meeting Tuesday and Thursday.

Chess Strategy Sessions for all Grade Levels:

 

This is an avenue for beginners and intermediate players to come and develop new skills for success at chess. Beginners can learn the fundamentals, and intermediate’s can hone their existing skills.

 

We will meet in Mr. Cormier’s room during LTT on Monday Wednesday and Friday. See you there.

Varsity Boys/Girls NMS Soccer Tournament

Congratulations to the varsity boys team who defeated George Street in the Saturday evening Final to earn the title for the 1st annual NMS Varsity Boys Invitational!!!

The Varsity Girls team also played this weekend and despite not advancing to the finals, the girls did play extremely well considering it was their first games of the season. Nice job girls!

Recycling

JV Soccer Results

In Junior Varsity Girls Action, team blue lost to George Street Middle School by a score of 4-1. Despite the loss, the girls played well with Laura Horsley scoring the lone goal.

The Junior Varsity Girls Red team beat George Street on Tuesday by a score of 4-2. Maddie Hill and Paris Lamoreau contributed to the scoring.

The JV Boys Blue team defeated GSMS by a score of 6-2 last night. Our goal scorers
were Noah Horwood, Jamie LeBlanc with two goals, Robert Elliott, Kyle Tassé and
Liam Everett.

NMS Football Results

The NMS Nordics won again yesterday against the Tigers 33 – 6, improving their record to 3-0 so far making them # 1 in the league!

Touchdowns by Daniel Hanscom, Jeremy Hughes, Braden Harrison, Ryan Lavigne, and a defensive interception and touchdown by Elias Pickell.

Extra points earned by James Duguid, Ryan Lavigne and Daniel Hanscom. All the players played very well and contributed to every touchdown and extra point, making the win a true team effort!

NMS Football Results

The Nashwaaksis Nordics boys Football team defeated the Bliss Carman Eagles 19-7 Tuesday Night. The Nordics also beat George street 28-0 on Sunday. The boys are playing exceptionally well and encourage all NMS students to come out and root them on!

Show Choir students and interested students are to meet in the music room at noon for an information meeting. Rehearsals begin next Tuesday at LTT.

Hiking and Geocaching

The Hiking Club and Geocaching Club will be combined into one club this year. Please pick up permssion slips from Mr. Smith any time. Our first meeting is Monday, Day 5, at 12 (noon) in Mr. Smith's room. This club is for all three grade levels. If you like hiking and\or geocaching this is the club for you! Grade Six Fun Afternoon

The grade six activity time this afternoon will happen weather permitting. We will make "the call" at 11:00AM. Stay tuned.

Geocaching Club

The Geocaching Club will be part of the Hiking Club this year. They will be combined into one Club and will be called the Hiking Club. If a student wants to Geocache with the School they will have to join the Hiking Club.

Important Busing Information...

Please be advised of the following clarifications...

Bus 43 will be an "express" bus to Devon Middle School so that students can transfer to the following buses - 

#122 (Lower/Upper Durham, Route 628, Zionville) 

#93 (Leslie St, Murray Ave, Veteran's Dr, AGMS) 

#4 (St Mary's ST, Jaffery St, Watter's Dr, Greenwood Dr, Highway 10) 

#35 (Kilarney Rd. Highland Hts, English Settlement, Lakewood Subdiv) 

#118 (Canada St. Mason Av, Rte 8 to 382)

Take note - All of these buses do not come to NMS at all... Bus 43 takes you to Devon to Connect to them!

Bus 42 - This bus will drop students off at their stops from Brookside Dr all the way out to the Kilarney Rd. If you live in a subdivision or mobile home park off Brookside, take this bus!
