Announcement -- Geography Challenge

Congratulations to those students who made it to the finals of the Level 2 (grades 7 & 8) Geography Challenge.  The very close competition was held on Friday and the NMS winner is Patrick Richardson 7H.  Congratulations, Patrick, and good luck in the provincial competition!

The level 1 (grade 6) Geography Challenge is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (period 5 and possibly period 6).  The grade 6 classes are invited to attend.

Game Results

Last night in JV Boys Basketball action, the Nordics lost a close game to Bliss Carman by a score of 23-20. The Boys have improved considerably since the beginning of the season and last night was a great example of this. Shane Moss, Brandon Manual, and Eric Kim scored 4 points each in the loss.

Valentine's Dance

A school dance will be held this Thursday, February 10, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Cost is $5 and pizza, garlic fingers and juice will be on sale for $1 each.  The dance is for NMS students whose names are not on the “No Dance” list.

 

Basketball scores

On Sunday Feb 6 our NMS girls JV basketball team won 2 games in exhibition play. Beating Stanley 53-23 and winning against Oromocto's Harold Peterson 47-27.

 

 

 

Drama Club 2011

 Calling all actors and actresses!  It is that time of year again.  Auditions will soon be held for this year’s Drama Festival Play “The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ring”.  Interested students are asked to meet in Mme Sprague’s room (room 110) at 12 o’clock on Monday, Feb.7.   Please be advised that practices will be held on Mondays from 3:00-4:30 and Thursdays 3:00-4:00.  Please be reminded that if you are selected for a part you will be required to commit to all practices as well as two Saturday practices ( dates to be determined at a later date).

Basketball Results & Important Tier II Boys Announcement

Last night the Varsity Boys lost to George Street Middle School by a score of 58-47. Marcus Urquart and Brett Brittany lead the way in scoring for the Nordics.

Also, last night the Grade 6 Girls were defeated by Devon middle School in a close game. Final score was 20-15 with Maddie Yerxa scoring 4 points for the girls.

The Tier II Boys have a very important Team practice on Monday February 7th at 5:30. All players are expected to attend.

We will have an early dismissal today.  The plan is the following:

 

11:45 - Walking students dismissed to go home

11:45 - Non-walking students go to lunch  as usual

                Lunch options include Library, Cafeteria games room, Theatre (movie), Fieldhouse

12:40 – Bell to send students to lockers to get coats, backpacks, etc. to go home.

 

Teachers – regular lunch supervision and bus duty.

NMS is looking to send their 6 best teams to attend the competition (2 teams from each grade level).
