Nashwaaksis sport lessons!

Sign up now for Nashwaaksis sport lessons. There will be a variety of sport lessons to choose from through out the year. For now we will be doing badminton skills, on certain days at noon in the gym. The next sport we will be doing is basketball then, and then volleyball, so if you want to come and have fun and learn about some sport, come down and see us. You don't have to know how to play, you just need to have a good attitude, and you have to be ready to learn. So if you're interested sign up now. the sheet is on the sports bulletin board. Christmas Card Sale

Our NMS Art Club will be selling hand made Christmas Cards for $1 each with proceeds going toward the Breakfast Program and a special program for the art club itself.

We will be selling just outside the theater during noon on Thursday and Friday this week, and Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Christmas Concert

The NMS Christmas Concert is this Wednesday evening at 7pm. Entrance is by a donation at the door.
At the concert there will be tickets sold for a beautiful electric fireplace.

Congratulations L:uc Deschenes

Congratulations go out to Luc Deschenes in 8H.  Luc found out yesterday that he has been selected to represent NB in the upcoming Canada Games in Halifax February 2011.  This is a wonderful accomplishment as he is only 13 and the team is comprised of all 95 boys (15 years).

 

He will be the only 13 year old playing hockey at these games and to my knowledge this has only happened once for NB.  What a wonderful accomplishment.

Firefighter's Challenge Reminder - SPCA Donations

11th Annual Firefighter's Challenge
· Next Tuesday(November 23rd) is the 11th Annual Nashwaaksis Middle School Firefighter's Challenge! This all day event will test the skill and teamwork of each and every class at Nasis to determine the ultimate winner for each Grade level.

· The Firefighter Challenge Judges will also be announcing the winners of our Firefighter's Poster Contest on Tuesday so continue to work hard on those posters and don't be afraid to get Creative!

· Tuesday is a very important day as we honor the brave Firemen and women that put their lives on the line every day. In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the community, the firefighters are also challenging each class in the school to donate as much animal food (canned and Bagged goods) as possible.

· These items will be given to the Fredericton SPCA. The class who brings in the most items will win an Ice Cream Cake Party!!

· So get ready for a fun and exciting day next Tuesday down in the Fieldhouse!

Firefighter's Challenge!!

11th Annual Firefighter's Challenge
· Next Tuesday(November 23rd) is the 11th Annual Nashwaaksis Middle School Firefighter's Challenge! This all day event will test the skill and teamwork of each and every class at Nasis to determine the ultimate winner for each Grade level.

· The Firefighter Challenge Judges will also be announcing the winners of our Firefighter's Poster Contest on Tuesday so continue to work hard on those posters and don't be afraid to get Creative!

· Tuesday is a very important day as we honor the brave Firemen and women that put their lives on the line every day. In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the community, the firefighters are also challenging each class in the school to donate as much animal food (canned and Bagged goods) as possible.

· These items will be given to the Fredericton SPCA. The class who brings in the most items will win an Ice Cream Cake Party!!

· So get ready for a fun and exciting day next Tuesday down in the Fieldhouse!

Yesterday the grade 7 boys' early bird tournament was held at Devon Middle School. 

 

We would like to congratulate the following:

Matt Russell -  bronze medal in singles

The Hiking Club had a great excursion to Odell Park on Saturday. The weather was great and the geocaching fun!

Atlantic Pacific Mathletes

Congratulations to all students who wrote Round 1 of the Atlantic Pacific math Competition.  The grade 6 students completed the elementary portion of the contest while the 7^th and 8^th graders did the junior high/middle school section.

 

Our mathlete for grade 6 is Mitchell Spragg.  Mitchell got 4 correct answers!!  Honourable mentions go to the following students for having scored 3:  Phoebe Bicknell, Laura Fanjoy, Katie Vandenberghe, Taylor Price, Susanna Rich, Corbyn Allaby, Emma MacFarlane, Andrew Howe—well done!

Seventeen students answered 2 questions correctly and 51 students got one correct answer.

 

Our grade 7 mathletes are Kevin Doria and Eric Kim with 2 correct answers—congratulations!  Twenty-one 7^th graders got one correct answer.

 

Our grade 8 mathletes are Abby Fredericks, Junhee Lee and Jacklyne Weng—they each had 3 correct responses!  Seven students answered 2 questions correctly and 47 students got one correct response.

 

Our mathletes will be notified when their trophies arrive.

 

Round 2 of the competition will take place on December 8.

Band Students for Remembrance Day Service Tomorrow

Teachers of Senior Band Students:
The senior band students have been instructed to check in with their homeroom teachers first thing in the morning and then proceed directly to the theater as our first service begins at 8:30. Band students performing are to wear white tops, black bottoms and black shoes.

Remembrance Day Services Wednesday

For our Remembrance Day Services on Wednesday morning we are in need of one grade 6 student who will lay the grade 6 wreath at each service. We are also in need of a teacher for each service to lay the staff wreath.

Students who have approached Mrs. Ross who are in cadets or scouting, regarding participating in the services, are to meet briefly at noon in the music room.

UNICEF

UNICEF update - Some money was brought in yesterday by people who had forgotten it on Friday.  So, we decided to donate the proceeds from the popcorn sale today to UNICEF one last time.  If you have any money that you would like to donate, take it to Room 202.  Please return your piggy bank and your puzzle to Mme Harrison's room (202) today.

This announcement is targeted to those students who went swimming during yesterday’s lunch activity period (they know who they are):

 

Yesterday, administration was informed of some unruly, inappropriate student behavior and language while waiting to go to the pool and while in the locker room.

Remember that you are representing NMS when you choose to go to the pool and you are expected to be our school’s ambassadors.  The Fredericton Indoor Pool is a public establishment.  We do not want to lose this unique privilege!!
